Magali Reus

SPACE

1 Jun – 15 Jul 2012

Situated behind the desk at the reception of SPACE, Magali Reus presents two grey powder coated aluminium works. Miming functionality, the works propose themselves as pamphlet or booklet racks. They have, however, been emptied both of content (there are no pamphlets) and therefore function (the communication of tangible messages through the content of the pamphlets). Instead they simply remain. In a way still communicating, yet obliquely; that is, in no easily circumscribable manner.

Additionally, Reus has reclaimed the small galvanised steel box that sits outside the gallery, placing a photograph where usually exhibition marketing material resides.

Magali Reus (born 1981, Den Haag, Netherlands) lives and works in London. Recent solo exhibitions include ON, The Approach, London (2011), Weekend, Galerie Fons Welters, Amsterdam, (2010) and Background, IBID Projects, London (2010).
