P. Staff –The Nudist In Two Parts
6 Apr – 20 May 2012
SPACE
Taking the format of a fragmented and unfinished theatrical piece, the project aims to explore shifting social values of the body and its place in relation to civil disobedience, economic crisis, state legislation and forms of collectivity in a counter cultural context. Performed rehearsals will take place in Space's Courtyard on the 21st April and 12th May with an accompanying video hosted on the artist's website throughout.
P. Staff is an artist based in London. Their video, installation and performance pieces interrogate the political, physical and material implications of social spaces, historiography, and ideological frameworks of value. They use abstracted physical movements and dialogue, performance, collective work and obscuring structures for research, production and the moving image to be made malleable. They frequently works collaboratively with a range of artists, theorists, historians and community groups.
Recent exhibitions, screenings and performances have taken place at Milton Keynes Gallery, Showroom, Wysing Arts Centre, and FormContent and was a Lux Associate Artist 2010/11. This year they will undertake an active research project into social filmmaking, communication and government legislation on Fogo Island, Canada with Robin Simpson and present new commissions for Tate Modern and Monte Vista Projects, Los Angeles. They were the 2011/12 recipient of the SPACE/BloombergON studio award.
